At Hacienda Sisal we believe in going back to our roots, using only the freshest ingredients and authentic home-style recipes from days gone by. Our seafood is caught locally and our steaks are top quality prime beef. Everything is natural; we source organic produce from the region and we look for the season’s finest harvests.
The tequila and mezcal we serve are 100 percent agave and made using time-honored artisanal techniques that bring out the subtle flavors that connoisseurs love so much. Even our tableside guacamole and salsas are prepared the traditional way in a molcajete or mortar and pestle.
And when it comes to tradition, Hacienda Sisal takes its inspiration from the grand old haciendas or estate houses of the Yucatan and Mexico. With its handcrafted brick ceilings, columns, fountains, art and ample open-air terrace, it is impressive and offers diners a choice of three different settings: Isabella’s dining room, La Fuente and La Terraza.
Even the name Hacienda Sisal takes us back to the age of “green gold,” the late 19th century when the Yucatan’s haciendas flourished and their owners amassed huge fortunes from the cultivation of henequen (Agave fourcroydes), an agave plant native to the area that yields a tough fiber used to make rope. Henequen fiber was christened “sisal” in overseas markets, a reference to Sisal, the Gulf port that initially handled the henequen trade. “Sisal” is a Mayan word that means “cold waters.”
We honor our traditional music, one of Mexico’s gifts to the world. On Tuesdays and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., there’s live Mexican music, including classic mariachi songs, corridas from the North and ballads.

Pozole Thursday, is your chance to try one of Mexico’s classic dishes with a mouthwatering pozole buffet. Pozole is a flavorful pork and hominy soup sprinkled with garnishes of coriander, onion, lettuce, radishes, tortilla strips, oregano and chile sauce. And our Sunday Brunch is a favorite with visitors and locals alike.
In 2015, Hacienda Sisal entered the TripAdvisor Cancun restaurant Hall of Fame, an honor conferred on restaurants that win the prized TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence five years running. It also has the Distintivo H certificate awarded by the Mexican Tourism Board for excellence in food storage and preparation.
